Lutea began as a vision; A quiet moment, gazing across the fields that lie beyond Lutea Cottage, a secluded retreat in the Cam Brook Valley of Somerset. A landscape steeped in history, where farmers work the land and textile artisans once wove their craft into the fabric of daily life. The fields remain, a haven for sheep that roam and graze, yet the artistry that once sustained these lands has faded into memory.
A secluded area of countryside,
we found ourselves questioning the nature of this loss. The vanishing craft of farming as more than an industry, but as a lifeblood to communities, a source of beauty, reverence, and warmth for both people and livestock alike. And so, we set out on a journey. Not simply to create, but to reclaim to rekindle the art of textiles once rooted in this land. At his desk in Lutea Cottage, Miles Martin sketched the first designs, not just as garments but as tributes, to the landscape, to the people, to the very sheep that provided their wool. He sought out farmers, artisans, and tailors, forging connections that wove together tradition and craftsmanship. From these relationships, the first collection was born: a capsule of luxury shirting, blouses, and outerwear. Each piece, made from 100% British fabrics, sourced sustainably, crafted by hand in Somerset.

The textiles are exceptional, natural, enduring, a testament to the processes once thought lost. Designed to be lived in, worn for a lifetime, imbued with the care of every hand that shaped them. Our imagery is captured within the walls of Lutea Cottage. Our muse the people of this land. Our tailors are known by name.
Each piece is accompanied by a record of every maker who has touched it, a mark of true transparency, a bridge between past and present.
Lutea exists as a quiet residence. A belief that craft is not lost, nor is the connection between land and maker. There is no dystopia here. In our world, in our house, we remain in solitude for those who choose to find us.
